hello there
My name is Juliana, Juli or Jules for short. Currently I live in Jamesport on the north fork of Long Island with my best friends and a small King Charles cavalier named Molly. I have also lived in Brooklyn, Portland Oregon, and the Hudson Valley. I love the ocean and somehow always find myself back here.
Where to start? I grew up happily on the east end of Long Island in a very un-Hamptons town. We had an old boat and a small house full of diversity and love. I was constantly “remodeling” my room, usually in the middle of the night - lifelong night owl here!
For almost 2 decades I have worked in architectural design starting as a drafter and eventually designing homes myself. Over the years I have also dabbled in graphic and branding design, and even a small amount of furniture design. One of my greatest pleasures is designing florals for events and photos. I have done this for many events and you will likely see some pics of florals on this website if you poke around! As you can probably gather I love design in all forms.
For the past few years my work in interiors has been increasing and I have found it to be one of the most rewarding things I have done. I love helping people enjoy their habitats and add some joy to their routines. We all need pleasant places to eat, sleep, live and work.
WHY KIN?
I chose the name “kin studio” because so much of my experience is thanks to my closest friends and family. Throughout the years they’ve given me opportunities to try my hand at every form of design and creativity I can think of. They have also been the strongest support and encouragement. I am forever grateful!
WHY STUDIO?
While my intention is to focus mainly on commercial interior design and decoration I am always open to other design opportunities. I also collaborate with several other designers and makers whenever I can. If you have a project please reach out and maybe we can help! If not myself, I am happy to refer a number of qualified creative professionals.
Thank you so much for reading this little bit about me, it is frightening to go out into the world but I am excited for the future and working with you!
Live and work well,
Juliana
